Gellinudd Recovery Centre provides a unique service in Wales, giving service commissioners the option of a not-for-profit service delivered by a Third Sector organisation.
Hafal has been delivering high-quality mental health services in Wales for over 20 years and has CIW, HIW, ISO and IIP accreditation. Our focus is on providing good value and giving Guests the support they need to recover, as opposed to being maintained in their condition. Our experience has proved that recovery-focused services with an emphasis on co-production mean better outcomes for patients and a reduction in financial cost.
The Hospital, which is on the National Collaborative Framework, has been developed in close liaison with the NHS in Wales to ensure we provide a service that fits with existing NHS services and that meets the highest clinical governance standards. Its approach is strongly in line with Welsh law and policy including the Mental Health (Wales) Measure and the “Together for Health” and “Together for Mental Health” Welsh Government strategies.
Individuals are usually referred via the NHS Framework from Health Boards and Trusts across Wales and England. Referrals are made from clinical teams, continuing healthcare commissioning teams and care co-ordinators. An individual referred to Gellinudd would be required to be eligible for continuing health care funding. Referrals may also come via other independent hospitals and can be made privately by an individual or their family.

Each of our Guests is unique, so the best way for us to start the admissions process is to undertake a brief and informal assessment of the needs of our prospective Guest. Getting to know each Guest means we can start building a bespoke personal care plan around them before they begin their stay with us.
It’s totally free and completely confidential. We will be happy to meet prospective with commissioners or prospective Guests in a location of their choice, to welcome them to Gellinudd for a visit, or to have a chat over the phone.
